What is the ServSafe Food Manager Certification?
 

The ServSafe® Food Manager Certification is a nationally accredited program accepted by health departments nationwide. The program blends the latest FDA Food Code, food safety research and years of food sanitation training experience. Albany Food Safety is a divison of  Westchester Food Safety and is partnered with ServSafe® to offer you the Food Manager Certification Exam.

The Food Safety Manager ANSI/CFP Certification Exam Study Guides is based on the 2023 FDA (Food and Drug Administration) Food Code with 2011 FDA (Food and Drug Administration) Food Code additions.

Albany Food Safety Instructors do not provide regulatory or legal advice regarding food code or food law. Please contact your local state and regulatory agency on all matters pertaining to food safety and consult your legal advisor for all legal issues.

What is the on-site class like?
 

Our location is very comfortable and it's located in Troy NY at the Courtyard Marriott. Our class usually runs 5.5 hours. There will be a 30-minute lunch break (BYO). The remaining 2 hours will be allocated for the exam. The exam may take less time depending on the student.

How long is the Food Manager's Certification valid?

The standard for food managers is to obtain their certification every 5 years, but this may vary depending on the state and/or local jurisdiction. The certificate is valid for 5 years regardless. 

What is the passing score for the exam?

Students must receive 70% or higher to obtain a certificate.

How many questions are on the exam?

There are 90 questions on the Food Manager Exam.

Is my certificate valid if I move out of state?

If you have already passed a Food Safety Manager exam and it has not expired, your certification is valid nationwide. However, some jurisdictions have their own specific regulations, so please make sure to check with your local health authority for any additional requirements.

When do I receive my test results?

You receive your test results immediately after taking the exam.

Is the test an online test?

Yes, but the test is online but must be taken with a registered ServSafe proctor. 

What if I fail the exam?

An examinee may take the examination twice within a thirty-day period, if necessary. If a third attempt is required, the examinee must wait at least sixty days from their last attempt.

Is the exam an open book exam?

No, it is not.

What should I bring to the exam?

All students that are registered to take the Food Manager Certification Exam will need to bring a current government issued photo ID such as a driver’s license. YOU MUST BRING A PORTABLE PERSONAL COMPUTER TO YOUR COURSE, AS YOUR EXAM WILL BE TAKEN ONLINE.

Can I take the exam in a language other than English?

Yes, the exams are in English, Spanish and Chinese. If you wish to take the course in Spanish or Chinese. Let us know we have amazing study material designbed just for you. 

 

You may also bring a translator with you to the lesson portion of our courses. Call for more info therean approval process through ServSafe.

Does Albany Food Safety offer private classes?

Yes, depending upon the number of students, we can have our instructor come on-site to your location. call for more info. 

Does Albany Food Safety offer company discounts?
